This month is a very special month. It was June 2013—ten years ago—that I first started working on The Black Diamond and the Witch’s Curse! It’s hard to believe it’s been a whole ten years! I remember vividly. I was a few months removed from graduating from college. Other than my job working at K-Mart, I didn’t have much going on in my life. I was trying to decide what my next step was. While I was doing that, I got a Facebook notification from an old teacher of mine promoting a book she recently got published. It just inspired me to try something like that. I went back to what I learned in high school English class and started to pre-write the novel. I had lists, Venn diagrams, the whole works. After doing that, I went to the local library since my laptop at the time was acting up on me and started to type the opening of the book and the rest, as they say, was history.
It’s been ten years of trials and tribulations… highs and lows… triumphs and setbacks… wins and losses. It has been equal parts exciting, frustrating, invigorating, rewarding, and empowering.
